Show Notes

The purpose of the cross was never only rescue. It was revelation. This message closes the Finished series by turning the finished work toward the Father's heart — chosen before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4–5), rescued, redeemed and reconciled (Colossians 1:13–22), then filled: Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). The Spirit is the deposit, the guarantee, the down payment God makes on your future. Nothing outside can change what has been settled inside. Stop begging like an orphan. Come boldly. It is finished, and it is His good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

[00:00:00] Welcome to the World Changers Church Gold Coast Podcast. Join us as we listen to today's message. [00:00:06] Hallelujah. Hallelujah. [00:00:09] Amen. Well, happy Father's Day to all the fathers in the house. [00:00:12] Yeah, man. Praise God. I appreciate that. Yeah, man. My kids are all here today with me. Praise God. [00:00:21] I'm so blessed, man. Some of you know my story, and to have my kids with me on Father's Day is just. It's all faithfulness of God, man. It's glory to God. Thank you, Jesus. [00:00:31] This is actually the first Father's Day message I've ever preached. [00:00:35] That's exciting for me. Praise God. Hallelujah. And I have a lot on my heart that I want to share with you. But first, we're going to pray. So, Heavenly Father, we just come before you this morning, Lord, with absolute humility and just gratefulness in our hearts. Lord God, thank you for that sweet presence and encounter we had in worship today, Lord God. And thank you. That didn't end in worship. We're in it now, too. That you're here, you're speaking, Lord God, you're moving in the midst of us, Lord. And Father, we just steady our hearts and our minds. We open our ears, we open our eyes. We open our hearts, Lord, to receive everything that you have for us this morning, God. I believe this morning, Lord, that you've come to reveal something to your children. To reveal a side of you, a facet of you, an understanding of you that they may not know or may not have seen, Lord God. And that's your heart this morning to reveal yourself in a fresh way. [00:01:27] So, Lord, we give you all the glory and we thank you for everything you're doing in Jesus name. Amen. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Thank you, God. [00:01:35] So, show of hands, who was here last week for the first message? Yeah. Amen. Did you guys get blessed? Who did, actually? Who did the homework? Show of hands, who did the homework? Oh, you did the homework. So you preached the gospel to yourself every day? Yeah. Amen. And you read Colossians 1, 1322. Praise God. So how did that. Did that change you preaching the gospel to yourself every day? Just waking up and telling yourself about the love of God and what Christ had done for you? Yeah. Changed you in what way? Like, have you got just a quick. [00:02:09] Yep. [00:02:14] Amen. Amen. There's nothing you got to do to pry that door open. He's right there. [00:02:19] Come on, man. That's good. That's good, Ben. [00:02:25] Preaching the gospel to myself. I got to go out and Share hope card and be a hope dealer, not just with Eli, but with Tony and Tracy. And we've seen a thousand salvations since February. Amen. Praise God, man. Hallelujah. Thousand salvations, man. [00:02:41] When we started the evangelism ministry room, Pastor Kyle, when you came up to me, we're going to launch this thing, man. Thousand, thousand. Like, we were like, this would be great if we get ten, a thousand. This is, man. That's. Glory to God, man. There's more to come, eh? Amen. We're like, what, halfway through the year, that's gonna multiply. Thank you, Jesus. Okay. Hallelujah. So last week, we looked at Colossians, and we looked at what Christ had finished for us on the cross. We looked at three words. We looked at rescued, we looked at redeemed, and we looked at reconciled. And so do you guys remember that our key scriptures were in Colossians? But we also look at Ephesians 1:4:5. Let's get that back up just to kind of refresh our memory this morning. So Ephesians 1:4:5, it says, just as he chose us, someone say, chose us in him before the foundations of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love, verse five, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ, someone say to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will. And so we looked at this last week, and we understood that this was a decision that God made before the foundations of the world to choose you in Christ to bring you to Himself. And it was his good will, his good pleasure to do this. You weren't there, which meant that you had no say in the outcome, right? This was God's decision. And so we said that because you weren't there, and you couldn't override God's decision. How does anything you do today override the decision that God had already made? We looked at that, right? We knew that God had already made up his mind about you. He'd already chosen to bring you into his kingdom and to bring you into sonship, to bring you into adoption. He just needed to do it through something and someone, and that person was Jesus Christ. And when Jesus did it, what did he do? He paid it all. He paid it in full. Amen. He left nothing to chance. He left nothing left to do for you or me to be adopted, to be accepted, to be presented to God, holy and blameless. Jesus paid it all. Amen. So do you add anything to the Gospel? [00:04:42] If you were listening last week, you know that that answer Is no. You add nothing to the Gospel. And if you add nothing to the Gospel, does that mean you can take anything from it? [00:04:52] The answer is still no. You cannot take anything away from the Gospel. It is a finished work, done deal, paid in full. Amen. And that's the good news. That is what the Gospel is all about. [00:05:05] You add nothing to it. And I love the verbiage in this scripture. It says that he has done this work. Go back to verse four so we can see it together. It says, just as he chose us before the foundations of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him in love. Verse 5. Having predestined us to adoption and sonship by Jesus Christ to Himself according to the good pleasure of his will, this is all a done deal in Christ Jesus. Amen. This is not something he might do or is thinking about doing. This is something that he has already done. Amen. You received that. Thank you, Jesus. So we looked at three words, rescued us. And just a quick note on this. So let's look at this together in Colossians 1:13 says that when we get that one up, Colossians 1, chapter 13. I think we've got someone new on words today. Amen. Let's give it up for our new person on words. Man, you're doing a great job, Leah. We appreciate you so much, Leah. [00:06:05] Oh, you don't have that one. Oh, that's okay. That's all good. So the scripture says that, yeah, she's done a great job. Here's Grace. [00:06:15] It says that he has rescued us and that he has transferred us from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of his beloved Son. And that word rescued means to deliver and to draw out of danger. [00:06:27] So if we look at. One thing I always tell people is that when you look at the Old Testament and you look at the New Testament epistles, you have to look at it through the finished works of Jesus. It's like, that's the Rosetta Stone, like the lens that you view the Scriptures through, all of it, the Old Testament and the New, all the revelations that we see, you have to see it through the lens of the cr. [00:06:47] So the cross is like your plumb line for interpreting scripture, right? So if you see something in the Old Testament and you're sort of looking at it and you think, oh, that. That doesn't feel like love. That doesn't feel like the God of the New Testament. Are you looking at it through the lens of the cross, knowing that in that Old Testament time there was a redemption and A reconciliation that still had to take place. So they were living in a time where they were under different. Different covenant, different relationship with the Lord. And through the finished works of Jesus. Everything in the Old Testament that was prophesied and was talked about is now fulfilled in Christ. [00:07:24] It's now fulfilled through Christ. So when you look at the Old, you have to see what was coming. [00:07:28] Look at it through the cross and see now who you've been made. So when we look at something like curses in the Old Testament, generational curses, or the law or works, we have to stand that they were under a different covenant. And to be honest, they were a different people. They were a Jewish people. The stuff that. That God put on the Hebrews and put on the Jewish people, it's not even applicable to us. It might be applicable to Pastor Kyle. Cause he's got a bit of Jew in him, but he's the only one that has a claim to this. The rest of us, the rest of us, we weren't even brought into this. The curses weren't on us as a race. [00:08:02] The law and the works and all that was not even on us as a people. It was on the Jewish people, not the Gentile people. So when we look at things in the Old Testament and you look at this word rescued, you have to understand that in Christ, when you gave your heart to Jesus, when you made him your Lord and Savior, there was something that took place. And it says he rescued you. He delivered you. He drew you out of darkness and he transferred you into. From darkness, into the kingdom of His Son. So all of the Old Testament curses, religious works, laws, rules and regulations, you were delivered out of them through the cross. And you were transferred into this new life that we now have in Christ, where we're reconnected to the Father, where we're reconciled to God now. And all of those curses stay on that side of the cross now. And you step into the fullness that you have in Christ Jesus now. You're redeemed. Hallelujah. Amen. Does that make sense? [00:08:59] Okay, that wasn't even. Yeah, we're good. Thank you, Lord. And we looked at redeemed, which is the Greek word common, apolutrōsis, which means released by a payment. Released by a payment. So there was a debt that you and I owed because of sin, but we were released from that debt by a payment. And the Bible says that we were not purchased with gold or silver, but we were purchased by the precious blood of the Lamb without spot or wrinkle. Amen. So Jesus he paid it all. He paid it in full. Amen. [00:09:36] Thank you, Lord. And the last one is that he has reconciled. [00:09:40] And we didn't really look at this word too much last week. So I want to break it down a little bit. It's the word apokatallassō. I don't even know if we've got that one. But it means to bring back from separation into a restored relationship. [00:09:56] To bring back from separation into a restored relationship. [00:10:02] Everything that took place at the original sin and the fall of man separated us from our heavenly Father, separated us from the love of God. That's why when we read in Romans, it says, what now can separate us from the love of God? Neither height, nor death nor nothing, right. Can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus. Why? Because we've been reconciled back to himself through the blood of Jesus. And again, who did this reconciliation? [00:10:32] Jesus did this work. Whose idea was this to do this? It was God's idea. [00:10:38] Amen. [00:10:40] And so you and I become the beneficiaries of God's plan. [00:10:47] We don't add to this plan. We don't Somehow put clause 1.2 in there if Tony does. [00:10:54] There's no clauses to this covenant that we now have in Christ Jesus. It's done. It's paid in full. Amen. Thank you, Jesus. So we were separated. Now we've been reconciled. We were alienated. Now we've been grafted. And unfortunately, we see a lot of Christians that are living as orphans begging for a meal. [00:11:24] When the Bible says that it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. [00:11:31] So as believers in Christ, we should never approach the throne room of God, wondering, will God do this? [00:11:40] Is God going to move in my life? [00:11:44] Have I done enough for God to show up? As believers, that's an orphan mentality. [00:11:52] But as believers, as Christians, as people who rest in the finished works of Jesus, we approach the throne room, the Bible says, with boldness, with confidence, with an absolute assurance in our heart that we are accepted, that we are chosen, and that God is waiting for you. Hear this this morning church. To enter boldly because he wants to give you the kingdom. [00:12:22] It's his good pleasure to give you the kingdom. [00:12:27] So this morning, if there's something that you've been wrestling with and wondering, will God do this in my life? [00:12:34] The word for you this morning is that He. He is delighted to do that in your life. [00:12:43] He is delighted to do that in your life. [00:12:48] Thank you, Jesus. That's a good father that we serve. Amen. [00:12:53] Hallelujah. [00:12:55] Thank you, Jesus. [00:12:58] So what Jesus accomplished was about removing what stood in the way between God and his children so that you could know the love of the Father, so you would never have to doubt if he would answer, doubt if he would make good on that promise, or doubt if he would come through in that moment. [00:13:18] Is that settled for you this morning, Church? [00:13:20] That you never have to doubt whether or not your good Father wants to move in your life, because the Bible says he is delighted to move in your life. [00:13:33] Hallelujah. [00:13:34] So Colossians 1, verse 22. Did we get that one, guys? [00:13:40] 22. Do we get 22? It will be in the playlist from last week because we added it up last week. [00:13:49] Thank you, Jesus. [00:13:56] No, that's okay. It says that in Colossians 1, verse 22. It says that he has reconciled us, and then it says, now he presents us holy and blameless before the Father in His love, he presents us. And we looked at that Greek word present. And that Greek word is the word paristēmi. Everyone say paristēmi. [00:14:20] And it means to bring into fellowship. That's what it means. And it's made up of two words. The first word is para, and the second word is histami. And the word para means to stand or to stand by. And the word histami means to make firm or establish. And when you put those two words together, para istami, it's the word that we translate, present. [00:14:41] And the picture that you get from the scripture is that when Christ presents you before the Father, what it's saying is that you don't stand before the Father on your own. You stand before the Father with Christ standing with you. And Christ is making you firm and establishing your position before the Father. That's why when we come before the Father, we don't come on our own merit. We come on the merit of Christ, and we come on what he has done for us and what has blood. So when God's present, when Jesus is presenting you to the Father. [00:15:17] Ben, come up here, bro. [00:15:19] Come up here real quick, man. Everybody give it up for Ben. We love Ben. We love Ben. [00:15:25] So for the analogy's sake, I am going to be in the position of Christ, but I never want to take that position. [00:15:32] And Ben is in the position of Ben. Everyone say, hi, Ben. [00:15:36] And so what happens in this verse that we're looking at in Colossians 1:22, it's like Jesus gets Ben and he walks up to the throne of God and he says, dad, dad, dad, look at Ben. [00:15:49] Look at him. He's holy. He's blameless. [00:15:53] The devil has no accusation against him. There's no condemnation on this guy. Look at him. He's a beloved child of God. It's Ben. And God looks at Ben and he says, well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord. Hallelujah. [00:16:09] So that's what that word present paristēmi means in the Greek. Hallelujah. I hope that you are falling in love with the Scripture and falling in love with your good, good Father, because that's what my heart is this morning. It's that see the depths and the riches of his love and everything he's done to draw you to Himself. [00:16:32] Amen. [00:16:34] Thank you, Lord. [00:16:35] So the purpose of the cross was to reveal the heart of the Father. [00:16:41] The purpose. I'm going to go over here because you guys didn't really respond. The purpose of the cross was to reveal the heart of God towards you. There you go. Hey, it's okay. You'll get a chance to redeem yourself later. [00:16:59] So let's. We'll go. Hey. Colossians 1:27. Everybody, let's get this one up. [00:17:07] Colossians 1 and 27. I'm having fun. You guys having fun? [00:17:11] Thank you, Jesus. We should. We should be having joy. [00:17:14] It says to them real quick, to you, to you. Okay. To them, God willed. Because it's talking about the Gentiles in the church of Colossae, which is encapsulating the whole Gentile Church. To them, God willed. Someone say God willed. [00:17:34] Who willed? [00:17:35] God willed. To make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery. Stop there for a second. So there was a mystery. Remember I talked about the Old Testament? And now what was in the Old has been revealed through the cross and it's into the New Testament now. So there was a mystery. It says that it was hidden. Hidden from the ages. Right? It says that God willed to make known to you to the Gentile Church what are the riches of the glory of this ministry. So this mystery. So this mystery has glory attached to it. [00:18:09] That's cool. [00:18:10] All right. So the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles. That's us. Someone say, that's me. [00:18:15] Here it is. You ready for this mystery, this glory that's now revealed, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. [00:18:26] So this mystery that was hidden, this mystery that was hidden in the Old Testament that's now been revealed through the finished works of the cross, was that God, God, our good, good Father, was not satisfied with a creation that didn't have you in it. [00:18:45] And he wasn't satisfied with creation that had you in it, but wasn't in relationship with him, so he did something about it. God willed to make known the riches of this glory to the mystery among the Gentiles. So what he did is he took himself. This is so crazy, man. He took himself, his nature, his goodness, his kindness, his love, his authority, his power. He took all of that and he wrapped it up into a flesh being called Christ. Jesus Christ. [00:19:16] And Jesus Christ went to that cross as a substitute for you and me. [00:19:21] For you and me. And then when we put our faith in Christ and what Christ did for us on that cross, the fullness of God, which was in Christ, Jesus Christ, now resides in you. [00:19:35] Christ in you. [00:19:38] That's awesome. [00:19:39] That is awesome. So if Christ is in you, and it was God's decision to do it. [00:19:49] Yeah. Thank you, Lord. [00:19:52] Do you think that sin is more powerful than the glory of God? [00:19:58] It's not, is it? [00:20:01] Do you think that your mistake can override God's promise in your life? [00:20:07] Do you think that God is waiting for you to make a mistake so he can remove the glory from your life? [00:20:14] There's a lot of people that think that way and live that way. Not this church. This church is really good. [00:20:23] God's glory rested in Christ, and now Christ rests in you. [00:20:32] God's glory was in Christ, and now Christ rests in you. [00:20:39] You gotta pick your game. You gotta pick your game up, man. [00:20:45] Thank you, Jesus. [00:20:48] Thank you, Jesus. We love this side of the church, Father. We just thank you for this side of the church, Lord. [00:20:55] They're listening. They're hooked. They're hooked. Thank you, God. [00:21:01] The living presence of Jesus Christ inside every believer is the guarantee of an eternal life in future heaven. God is not distant. [00:21:12] Drum roll. He lives inside of every person who believes in Jesus. [00:21:21] Got him. Got him. [00:21:24] He's like, Pastor Kyle's like, I did not teach you to do this. [00:21:29] He lives inside of every person who believes in Jesus through the Holy Spirit. [00:21:34] So there's a word in that scripture. Can you say? It's hope. The hope of glory. [00:21:39] The cool thing about biblical hope and how it differs from the world is that the world wishes upon a star. [00:21:47] Their hope is not grounded in anything tangible. It's a wish. It's, I hope this happens in my life. [00:21:55] Our hope, biblical hope has rested in something that has already taken place. [00:22:02] Our hope rests in the finished works of Jesus Christ. [00:22:07] He is our hope. [00:22:09] He is where we find our rest. He is where we find that this will happen in my life because it's already taken place in Christ. [00:22:20] So the world's hope is maybe, might if something breaks my way. [00:22:26] Our hope as Christians, as believers who are in Christ and Christ is in you, is that it is guaranteed to take place in my life because Jesus has already done it. [00:22:37] Amen. [00:22:38] Amen. Good job. [00:22:41] So let's go to Ephesians, chapter 1, verse 13 to 14. [00:22:46] The Holy Spirit is described in this passage of Scripture as our guarantee of our inheritance and our future glory until the redemption of God's people. So you ready in him, you also again in Him. Do you see that? You see this right in Him. [00:23:03] You also who have heard the word of truth, the glad tidings. So the word of truth, the glad tidings, the gospel of your salvation. So if anyone wants to tell you, how do I know truth? The gospel. The gospel is how you discern truth in the Scriptures, the glad tidings, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in and adhered to and relied on Him. [00:23:31] Even that right there is so powerful because we often believe in so many things and we place our faith in so many things and we subscribe to so many things and we rely on so many things. [00:23:43] But right here it says, believe in, adhere to and rely on Him. [00:23:49] On Him. [00:23:51] Amen. We were stamped with the seal of the long promised Holy Spirit. [00:23:57] That spirit is the guarantee, someone say guarantee of our inheritance, the first fruits, the pledge, the foretaste, the down payment on our heritage in anticipation of its full redemption and our acquiring complete possession of it. To the praise of his glory. [00:24:15] Even that last phrase, to the praise of his glory. [00:24:19] It's like God started it. And at the end, God finishes it. And everything in between. [00:24:28] God takes care of it. [00:24:30] So he initiated this. If you go back to verse 13 in him, his idea, he initiated this, goes through, believe in, adhere on him. Rely on Him. You've been stamped with the seal of the Holy Spirit, verse 14. [00:24:48] That Spirit is the guarantee of your inheritance, the full redemption. [00:24:53] We will acquire it. [00:24:55] And at the end it says, to the praise of his glory. [00:25:00] The praise of his glory. [00:25:02] How do you know it's going to work out in your life? [00:25:06] God guarantees it to the praise of his glory. [00:25:12] How do you know? [00:25:13] How do you know without a doubt that you will be healed? [00:25:19] God guarantees it to the praise of his glory. [00:25:22] How do you know you're going to make it through that current struggle, that financial crisis that you're in, that current marriage struggle that you're facing, that job issue? That you're going through right now, that character flaw in you that just doesn't seem to want to change. How do you know that it's going to work out? How do you know? [00:25:39] To the praise of his glory, God is invested in the outcome of your life, and not only is he invested in the outcome of your life, he's rigged the game. [00:25:55] To the praise of his glory. Hallelujah. [00:25:58] It's a done deal. [00:26:01] Is that good? [00:26:05] I love it. [00:26:06] I love it. [00:26:08] So that word guarantee in the Greek, have a look at that word together. What's the time? 1104. [00:26:15] So that word. Are you guys good? [00:26:17] Yeah. Hallelujah. [00:26:19] Do we have that graphic? [00:26:22] Anyway, so the word guarantee in the Greek. It's the Greek word arabon, and it means a deposit, a pledge, or a first installment. You can think of this way, it's like a down payment. [00:26:34] So when. [00:26:36] When it says that the spirit in you is the guarantee, it's like God was like, I'm not leaving anything of this to chance. I'm not putting any of this in Glenn's hands. [00:26:48] Amen. [00:26:51] I'm not doing that. I'm making a down payment on this. So not only did he do the work in Christ, because some people. Oh, yeah, I know he did the work. Well, he did the work and then. And he backed it up. And he placed his Spirit on the inside of you, and he sealed you with the promise of the Holy Spirit. He made a down payment. [00:27:11] So the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit acts as God's personal down payment, assuring that as believers, we will receive our full inheritance. [00:27:20] And it's also a seal of ownership. So the Spirit marks us as authentic property of God. That's what this Greek word means. When you break it down, it offers spiritual security and it gives us a taste of the future glory that we will inherit to the praise of his glory. Amen. [00:27:44] So we saw that last week, God had already decided that you were worth it long before you had the chance to do anything to earn it or muck it up. [00:27:54] I bucked it up a few times. [00:27:56] Thank you, Jesus, but I am redeemed. Thank you, Lord. But here we see that it was God's plan was for Christ not only to redeem you, rescue and reconcile you, but also to remove the old nature and place his nature on the inside of you. [00:28:16] So he not only has he rescued you, redeemed you, and reconciled you, he's removed the old nature, and now he's placed the fullness of his Spirit on the inside of you and I think next series we're looking at Christ in you. So this is like a bit of a segue into that. So that's going to be exciting. We're going to break this down even more about what really took place when Christ made His home on the inside of you. So he has sealed you with his spirit, he's placed the fullness of Himself inside of you. He's sealed you with his spirit, he's provided you with his strength, and he's guaranteed you your future. [00:28:51] That's good news, Church. That is good news. [00:28:55] Can you do anything to change God's mind about this? No, you cannot. Thank you, Jesus. Does this make you want to live more for Him? [00:29:03] Like, you see his goodness, right? You see his love for you, and you've just. It makes you want to go all in. It makes you say, man, God, you're so good. I want more. I just want to know more. I'm only scratching the surface of the goodness of God's love towards you and how good he is towards you. This is like a lifetime pursuit of just learning about how amazing our earthly Father is. The one thing we don't want to do is let the enemy pull us back into that trap of performance and religion to earn our favor with God. You're already accepted. You're already holy and blameless. You're already presented before God. Everything else on top of that, it's not about you and God. It's about. So we like to talk about two sides of the cross. We've got the vertical side of the cross. This is done between you and the Father. It is done. It is sealed with the Holy Spirit. This part of the relationship, a part of the cross is absolutely a done deal, paid in full. But there's a horizontal aspect to the cross, but the horizontal flows from the vertical. So what comes down between this relationship with you and God and this flow that you have with the Holy Spirit, it flows out into the world around you. [00:30:12] But you can't flow out if you're not filling up. [00:30:16] So that part demonstrates that. That's where we get so mixed up, because we think what's happening out here is determining what's happening here. [00:30:25] Nothing out here can change what's happening here. [00:30:28] This is sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise until the day of redemption. It's guaranteed to the praise of his glory. You can't change this. [00:30:37] But the more you get this, the more you impact here. [00:30:42] Amen. [00:30:44] Praise God. That was for free. [00:30:48] Thank you, Lord. [00:30:51] Thank you, Lord. So the purpose of the cross was to reveal the heart of the Father. You better come up, Michelle. [00:30:57] You guys good? [00:30:59] There were three things that I want you to see and I'm going to fly through these and you know, I've got all this and one day I'll, I'll break it down even further. But I think God spoke what he wanted to speak this morning. [00:31:13] He wanted to reveal his heart to you. So let's go to Colossians, chapter two. Now. [00:31:19] I love this book, by the way. [00:31:22] If you get the opportunity to read Colossians, if it was the only book in the Bible, it'd be worth it. [00:31:28] I love it because it's written to a Gentile church, it's written to, to us. [00:31:33] And it really beautifully, I think captures and summarises what happened through the finished works of Jesus and what happened at that born again experience, what really took place. I think Colossians really maps that out for us. It talks about how we've been rescued and reconciled and redeemed. And then as you go through the book, it talks about how we take off this old man and we put on this new man that's created in righteousness and true holiness. And that's the work of a Christian as a believer. It's to imagine you've got a backpack on and that's your old man. [00:32:10] It's to take off that backpack and it's to put on the new man that's in Christ Jesus. But I think a lot of the time what we do is we leave the old backpack on and then we try and fit the new backpack on over the top of it. It's just super uncomfortable because you weren't made to do that, right? [00:32:27] You weren't made to throw on the new over the old. You were meant to take off the old and throw on the new. [00:32:34] Amen. [00:32:38] So Colossians, chapter 2, verse 2. [00:32:44] That their hearts, your hearts. So this is the prayer of Paul that your hearts may be encouraged being knit together in love and attaining to all the riches of the full assurance. Someone say assurance. [00:32:57] Someone say I'm assured the full assurance of understanding to the knowledge of the mystery of God. There's that mystery again. Christ in you. [00:33:07] Both the Father and of Christ. Verse 3. [00:33:10] In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. You want to know what God's purpose is in your life? [00:33:21] It's found in Jesus. [00:33:24] Jesus is God's express image. He's the express image of the Father. What once was hidden is now revealed in Christ. You want to know what God thinks What God's doing, how he's going to act in a situation. Look at the finished works of Jesus. [00:33:40] That's the done deal. That's the evidence of Christ's heart towards God's heart towards you, of the Father's heart towards you. [00:33:48] While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. [00:33:52] So see what great love the Father has bestowed on us that we would be called the sons of God. And that is who we are, not who we're going to become, not who we one day be. [00:34:06] That is who we are. That is. 1 John 5. Can we get that one up, man? [00:34:12] Let's just go straight to that one. [00:34:17] 1 John 3:1. 1 John 3:1. [00:34:22] Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us that we should be called children of God. [00:34:32] Therefore, the world does not know us because it did not know Him. [00:34:38] Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us that we should be called the children of God. [00:34:51] Did you have to twist God's arm to get you. To get him to call you his child? [00:34:58] No. He said to believe. [00:35:00] He said to believe in Jesus. You had to put your faith in the finished works. [00:35:05] And when you did that, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit and you were guaranteed an eternal inheritance. You are guaranteed to experience the fullness of life in Him. [00:35:21] And God is not waiting to decide whether he will or won't move in your life. He's already decided. [00:35:28] He's already decided and he's already shown that he's willing to move. [00:35:35] So this morning, is there anything that's unfinished in your relationship with the Lord? Is there anything that you need to settle with God regarding your position in Him? [00:35:53] Because it's finished. [00:35:55] It's done. [00:35:57] If we look at another chapter in Colossians, it says that he took away everything that stood between us and him and he nailed it to his cross. [00:36:07] He nailed it to his cross, all the handwritings, the law, the ordinances, and the things that stood contrary to our relationship with Him. He took it out of the way and nailed it to the cross. [00:36:20] There is nothing that stands between you and relationship with God now. And there is nothing you have to do to earn his blessing in your life. Do you believe that Church, as we finish out this series on it, is finished? I don't want to leave anything unfinished. [00:36:37] I need to know, Church, that you have settled in your heart how good he is and that this was his plan from the beginning to bring you into relationship with him and that that separation and those things that kept you from his presence. [00:36:54] He's Nailed them to the cross. And you've been reconciled, you've been brought back to him now. And so this relationship, this vertical relationship that you have with God, nothing can hinder it. It's a continuous flow. [00:37:08] It's a continuous place of being in him, Christ in you and you in him. John 17. [00:37:15] That I be in them and they be in me, and we be in them and they be in us. It's this beautiful vertical relationship where your connection to God is unbroken, unhindered, uncontaminated. [00:37:30] And then from that place, you overflow into the world. [00:37:35] You overflow into your sphere of influence, you overflow into your families, you overflow into your workplaces, you overflow into your churches. [00:37:43] Amen. So if there's anyone here this morning that just wants to come up and I'll pray with you and we're just gonna settle it. If there's something that you feel is just keeping you from really experiencing the fullness of God's love, I just invite you up this morning. I'm not gonna tarry for ages. So you got three seconds to come up here, and then we're gonna move on to the next thing. Yeah. Thank you, Jesus. For those people that want to come up, we're just gonna pray. We're just gonna settle it in the spirit. We're just gonna be big and fluffy or anything like that. So we're just gonna settle it in the spirit. We're just gonna do business. [00:38:11] And if that's you and you want to come up, come right up to the front, guys. Come right up to the front. Praise God. Be bold about it. Can we give these guys a hand clap of praise? These guys are absolutely. [00:38:21] Stand next. Stand next to each other, bro. [00:38:24] Stand next to each other. Shoulder to shoulder, Pascal. [00:38:29] Thank you, Lord Church. I want you to stretch out your hands towards these bold, beautiful people. [00:38:38] Yeah. [00:38:39] Thank you, Lord. Father. We just give you praise, Lord, for these people that have decided to believe your gospel, Lord. [00:38:48] To believe in your finished works, Jesus. To believe that you have done it all through your cross, Lord. To believe, Lord God, that they are worth the price of your son. [00:39:02] To believe, Lord God, that you present them holy and blameless, Lord. And we come against everything, every lie that the enemy has ever said in their lives, everything he's ever tried to plant in their minds about their acceptance or their worthiness or their qualification. Lord God, we come against every lie of the enemy and we declare the truth of your gospel over their lives, Lord God, that they are blood bought, that they are chosen, that they are called by name that they are presented before you holy and blameless, Lord God. And they do nothing to earn it or deserve it. They rest in it. [00:39:37] They simply receive it by faith, Lord God. And I pray, Lord God, that this day marks a day in their life where they no longer live by performance or religion or do's and don'ts of Christianity. They live in the rest and in the finished works of Jesus Christ, knowing that they are adopted sons and daughters of the Most High God. And it is your good pleasure, Lord, to bless them in Jesus name. Amen. And the church said Amen. Thank you. Amen. Amen. Hallelujah. [00:40:05] Bless you, man. [00:40:07] Bless you, man. Praise God. Praise God. Bless you, man. Love you, man. Bless you, man. [00:40:12] Bless you. Bless you. Bless you. Thank you, Jesus. [00:40:18] Well, church. [00:40:20] Yeah.
