[00:00:00] Welcome to the World Changers Church Gold Coast Podcast. Join us as we listen to today's message.
[00:00:06] Thank you, Lord.
[00:00:07] Thank you. I feel better now. If anything, I feel better now, so that's good.
[00:00:13] I've been, like, mulling on this word for a little while now after Pastor Kyle told me we were going to start this series on Filled. And I was going to get to kind of run that for a couple of weeks. And I'm so honoured to do that. This is something that's really dear to my heart because Filled, or the series on Filled is about life in the Spirit. It's about life with the Holy Spirit.
[00:00:30] And, you know, it's something that I think that as Christians, we kind of try and work out with our natural mind. But the Bible says that the things of God are foolish to the natural mind because they have to be spiritually discerned. We have to understand them through the Spirit of who we are in Christ. And that's why we've laid a platform for these last few weeks on our identity and what Christ has done through us for the finished work, that it's paid in full, that we don't have to try and do something to earn God's favour or his love. He's decided before the foundations of the world that he chose you in Christ to be accepted, to be blameless, to be holy, to be presented. You guys remember, you're presented before the Father without approach, you can't be. The sins of yesterday don't determine God's relationship with you today. The sins have been forgiven, cast into the sea of forgetfulness, you're a new creation in Christ that old things have passed away and all things have become new. So we need that, we need that foundation before we start to look at spiritual things and walking with the Holy Spirit. Because otherwise, how many of you know, and I'm guilty of this myself, of the gifts of the Spirit and the things of the Spirit, starting to shape my identity and my worthiness before God. So God starts to use me to do things, heal people, speak words of knowledge over people, prophesy over people, and all of a sudden I start to find my identity and what God's doing through me rather than who he's made me.
[00:01:43] Yeah, so we don't want to become like flaky Christians, spooky and weird Christians who are trying to determine who will get our worth or our value through what we do for God, through the Spirit of God. But we want to be grounded, established in truth, solid, mature Christians who know who we are. In God. And there from that place can begin to overflow into the world, to the workplace, to the people around us. Yeah. So the gifts don't determine my acceptance. I'm already accepted. I'm already accepted.
[00:02:15] I'm already made righteous. I'm already proven. I'm already all those things. What the gifts do is they actually don't prove anything to me. The gifts are for showing God to the world.
[00:02:28] Yeah, we've made it all about the gifts being some evidence of my worthiness or my Christianity, my spirituality, when the gifts were actually for the unbeliever.
[00:02:44] They're to prove the evidence of God.
[00:02:46] The signs, wonders, and miracles are for showing the world the glory and the manifestation of our God that we love and that we have fellowship and relationship with, and that he uses us to reveal himself to all us in a dying world.
[00:02:59] Yeah.
[00:03:00] So we don't want to be those people that at Christmas time we get all the gifts and then we keep the gifts for ourselves.
[00:03:07] No, man. We're gift givers. Hallelujah. Who's the gift giver? I'm a gift giver. You're a gift giver. Hallelujah.
[00:03:14] I love when the Holy Spirit just starts doing stuff. Thank you, Jesus.
[00:03:19] So before we get into all the gifts and we're going to look at this, we've got three weeks, guys, to unpack all of this. So this week it's about filled life in the Spirit. Next week we're going to look at overflow, the spirit of God coming out of us. Right. And then I'm going to see what Holy Spirit wants to do in week three. But that's what I got so far. We'll get there.
[00:03:38] So here's our thought for this next couple of weeks. Right?
[00:03:42] So God didn't want just clean cups, which is what Jesus did through the cross. He wanted filled cups.
[00:03:50] He didn't just want clean vessels.
[00:03:53] He wanted filled vessels.
[00:03:55] Amen. So we're gonna look it through the Scriptures today, because that's what we do.
[00:04:00] And we're gonna learn about the Holy Spirit.
[00:04:03] And then you're gonna see that it's that same Holy Spirit that now lives in you, dwells in you, sanctifies you, and sets you apart for a single purpose, which is to manifest his glory to this world. That's why Acts chapter one says that wait here in Jerusalem for you will receive power from on high, so that you will be my what?
[00:04:23] Witnesses into all the words. Right. So that's the Holy Spirit. We're going to get into it. You Guys excited about that?
[00:04:29] Amen. Jesus cleansed us and made us new so that the Holy Spirit could dwell within us. He rescued you, he redeemed you. He reconciled you. He placed you in Christ. All the things we've talked about so that he could now dwell in you. That was God's plan right through from the beginning to the end. Remember in the Garden of Eden that God walked with Adam and Eve. He was among his people. And then we see in Exodus that they made a tabernacle so that God's glory could dwell with them. And then Isaiah, sorry, Israel built the temple so that what? So that the glory of God could dwell among them. And all of that was pointing to something. It was pointing to something in the new covenant. And Jesus says this. We're going to unpack this. But he says that the Holy Spirit's been with you, among you. He says, but now he's going to be in you.
[00:05:14] In you. So the Old Testament had a shadow or an idea of what this life with God would look like. But it was God moving upon his people for a time, for a purpose among his people, to bring about his will in the earth.
[00:05:27] But now in the new Covenant, because we're believers in Christ, the Holy Spirit now dwells in you for that very same purpose, to bring about his will in the earth.
[00:05:38] Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus. Man, you guys are mighty. We sung it this morning. We're mighty ones this morning.
[00:05:44] Not because of your strength or your ability or your charisma, but because the Holy Spirit dwells in you.
[00:05:51] Amen. Oh, man, that's good news. So over the next few weeks, we're going to talk about being filled with the Spirit, walking with the Holy Spirit, and being aware of his presence.
[00:06:00] We're going to lay a foundation this week.
[00:06:04] Our life in the Spirit or our life with God is never about earning something. It's about receiving what's already been given to us.
[00:06:12] Yeah, Annabelle said it in team huddle this morning that the one work of a believer is to do what? Believe.
[00:06:19] Believe.
[00:06:20] Everything else has been taken care of. All we've got to do is believe it.
[00:06:24] So that's why we search through the Scriptures and we pour through this word.
[00:06:28] Not so that I can see all the things I'm doing wrong, but that I can see everything God already says about me. And then I have to choose to believe it. A lot of people read this and see everywhere that they're falling short, not realizing that God has already made up the difference of where you fall short. So you don't read this word to say, oh, I'm not doing that. And I'm not doing that. And man, God, like, I'm just a wretched man. How am I ever gonna achieve that? You read it this say, holy Spirit, man, you live in me. And maybe my life doesn't look like this now, but you've already promised that I'm gonna walk in this. You've already promised that this is who I am now. You've already promised that this.
[00:07:00] So, Lord, I claim this because you dwell in me. And if you dwell in me, you're the very same Holy Spirit that wrote this. And so you live in me. And whatever it says about there, that's true about me right now. I may not see it now, but I know it's true. And I believe it because I'm a believer. Hallelujah. I got any believers in this house this morning?
[00:07:16] I hope so. I need to find somewhere else to go.
[00:07:20] Hallelujah.
[00:07:24] So a spirit filled believer doesn't need the gifts to convince them that God is with them. The gifts flow because they already know that God is in them. So let's look at our first scripture for today. Colossians 2, 9, 10. We got that one.
[00:07:37] Let's give it up for Jack. Thank you, Jack. Amen.
[00:07:40] So this is Colossians 2, 9. It says, for in Christ all the fullness of the deity lives in bodily form. So what this is saying is that God was dwelling in Christ. The fullness of God dwelled in Christ. So in Christ, all the fullness of God lives in bodily form and flesh. And in verse 10 it says, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness.
[00:08:05] He is the head over every power and authority.
[00:08:08] So do you see that what we've been talking about up until this point as well is that it's a done deal.
[00:08:15] It's paid in full. The price has been paid.
[00:08:18] The work has been done.
[00:08:20] That's why the Christian's work is to believe and to rest.
[00:08:24] We rest in the finished works of Jesus Christ.
[00:08:28] Yeah. So. And in Christ you have been brought to fullness. Brought to fullness. You are complete in him.
[00:08:37] Yeah.
[00:08:38] So we have to understand that before we start talking about the gifts of the Spirit and flowing in the gifts of the Spirit. Because like I said, otherwise they will start to determine whether or not I'm complete in him.
[00:08:48] I'm already complete in him. Amen.
[00:08:52] Thank you, Jesus.
[00:08:55] Let's go to our next scripture. Romans 8, 14, 16.
[00:08:59] For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. Stay there for a minute. Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
[00:09:11] So does this verse say that if I'm not being led by the Spirit of God, then I'm not a child of God?
[00:09:18] See, a lot of people will think that. They'll read that with a religious works based mindset where they'll say, well, if I'm not walking in the Spirit, am I really a son of God?
[00:09:27] That's not what the scripture is saying at all.
[00:09:31] So imagine. So Braden's my son, right?
[00:09:35] If he doesn't act like my son, does that make him any less of my son?
[00:09:43] No, he's my son.
[00:09:45] But the way he acts and how he replicates or represents what I've been teaching him, showing me, it does something. It proves that he's my son.
[00:09:55] So that's what the scripture is saying. It's not saying, if you're not led by the Spirit of God, you're not his son. Saying you are his son. So the way you show that you're his son is to start being led by the Spirit of God.
[00:10:08] It doesn't change your position.
[00:10:10] It doesn't change your sonship. Your sonship is not changed by whether or not you do or don't walk in the Spirit. Your sonship is secure in Christ. That's why we laid that platform for the last few weeks. But the evidence of your sonship, the way an unbeliever, the way someone who's hurting, the way someone who needs love in their life, who needs a strong word, someone to go to, is evidenced in life, is by you as a son being led by the Spirit.
[00:10:36] And the way that you can be led by the Spirit is to know that the Spirit dwells in you.
[00:10:42] Amen. We need Christians who know they are filled with the Spirit of God.
[00:10:48] We're going to get to that later. I nearly jumped ahead of myself.
[00:10:52] All my doing is not going to change my nature, but my nature in Christ will change my doing.
[00:10:58] Yeah, all my doing will not change my nature, but my nature in Christ will change my doing. It'll change my love. It'll change my words. It'll change my responses. It'll change the way I show up when it's hard. It'll change the way that I think about myself.
[00:11:15] There's a great word for God in the Old Testament. It's a name for God. It's called El Roy. It means the God who sees.
[00:11:22] God who sees.
[00:11:25] Do you know that God does not see all the things that you See about yourself.
[00:11:32] And he does not say all the things that you say about yourself.
[00:11:44] So your work job as a Christian is start to think the way that he thinks about you and say the same things that he says about you.
[00:11:56] Amen.
[00:12:00] Somebody received it. Thank you, Jesus.
[00:12:03] Hallelujah.
[00:12:05] Thank you, Lord.
[00:12:09] And the foundation for all of this is the love of God.
[00:12:16] It's the love of God. And the Bible says that the love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit.
[00:12:25] Oh, man, this is so good.
[00:12:28] Amen. Because you can operate in the gifts, man. You can speak in tongues, you can prophesy, you can heal, you can do all those things. But without love grants you nothing, profits you, nothing, profits you nothing. Love is the foundation. And Bible says that the love of God has been shed abroad in your hearts by the Holy Spirit.
[00:12:47] Amen. So you're not looking to obtain more love.
[00:12:52] That's not what you're trying to do. The fullness of the God here dwells in you.
[00:12:57] You have it. You have everything you need. You're not looking to get more love. You simply needs to believe that the love of God has been shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit. And then you start to walk in that love.
[00:13:09] You start to live from that love. You start to identify with who you are in Christ and that love. Amen. This is what I'm going to do. Holy Spirit, we believe that you dwell in us by faith, God. That the fullness of Christ dwells in us, Lord God. That you have sanctified us, sealed us, and set apart us apart, Lord God. And that we're not looking to obtain anything from you. We're not looking to be accepted by you. We already know we're accepted, Lord God. We're not trying to earn more of the Holy Spirit, Lord God.
[00:13:38] No, no, no, no, no, Lord. We just want to walk in more of him In Jesus name. Amen. All right. Hallelujah. Yeah. Thank you, Jesus.
[00:13:47] Amen.
[00:13:48] The Holy Spirit doesn't just want to work through you, he wants to work in you. And that's what we're talking about today. Not simply what the Holy Spirit can do through us, but who he is, why he's come, and what his presence means for us as believers.
[00:14:03] So God showed us that in the Old Testament, he wanted to be among his people. He walked with Adam. He made a dwelling place in the tabernacles of the wilderness. With Moses, he filled the temple of Solomon with His glory. But then in Ezekiel. Let's bring this one up. Ezekiel, Ezekiel. 36. He gives us a prophecy of what the New Covenant was going to look like. And he says, I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will remove your old heart of stone and I will give you a heart of flesh. Verse 27 says, I will put my spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. This is a promise from God in the Old Testament, foreshadowing what Christ would do through the New Covenant, where He would put his spirit on the inside of a believer. And what I love about this scripture, What I love about the scripture is that he wasn't promising just to dwell among us. He was promising to dwell within us. And it doesn't just say he'll put his spirit within us.
[00:15:07] It says that he will cause his Spirit will cause us to walk after him, to walk in his ways.
[00:15:16] So, so many people are trying to walk the life of Christ in their own strength.
[00:15:22] They're trying to walk the life of Christ in their own charisma and ability.
[00:15:27] They're leaning on their own understanding. The Bible says, trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding. It says, acknowledge him in all your ways and he'll direct your steps, your path. Yeah.
[00:15:39] So what I love about this is that God didn't just take out the old, the old flesh, the old nature, the old person, and put in his new Spirit. That new spirit now shapes who we are.
[00:15:48] It transforms not only our identity, but our character.
[00:15:53] It transforms not only our identity, but our why, our desire, our motive, everything about our lives starts to be transformed by the Holy Spirit. He starts to cause us to walk in his ways.
[00:16:05] Have you ever felt that as a Christian? It's like all of a sudden, those things that you love, you just don't love them anymore.
[00:16:11] That's the evidence of the Holy Spirit dwelling within you.
[00:16:14] You know those things that you used to do, you're just like, I don't want to do that. I just. And then you do it and you're like, ugh, I just don't feel right.
[00:16:22] Well, the trick in that moment is not to condemn yourself. It's to realize the Holy Spirit is telling you something new about who you are.
[00:16:28] See, a lot of us start to condemn ourselves. Why am I not walking in the Spirit? Am I really a son of God? No, you're a son of God who just for a moment forgot.
[00:16:37] And now you got to step back over into who you are in Christ and start walking in the Spirit. Again. And being led by him again.
[00:16:42] That's why those things that you used to do don't feel good anymore. Don't seem good. You don't want to do them anymore. It's because. Because the spirit of God himself has taken out the old heart and put his new spirit, his new heart, within you. His spirit dwelling in you. Amen.
[00:16:56] Hallelujah. That's some good news.
[00:16:58] Thank you, Jesus.
[00:17:01] Amen.
[00:17:03] Yeah. Thank you, Lord. Okay.
[00:17:07] A new heart, a new nature. The spirit of God working within us. And then we fast forward to the New Testament. Jesus come and he makes this promise even clearer. So we see this promise in Ezekiel that I'm going to do this. God says, and then we fast forward to the new covenant, the New Testament. Jesus is walking the earth. He's on the shores of Galilee with his disciples. He's teaching them all these things about the kingdom of God. And he says this amazing, amazing truth in John chapter 14 that we're going to unpack together.
[00:17:33] So let's go to John 14, starting in verse 16. He says, and I will ask the Father even that. You got to get this. Jesus is asking God specifically for something. Okay?
[00:17:53] If Jesus is asking God, do you think that there's any doubt in Jesus mind that God hears him?
[00:18:05] So in first John, it says, and this is the confidence that we have that if we ask anything of the Father, he hears us and we have the thing that we've asked for.
[00:18:16] I don't know about you, but I don't always have confidence in that.
[00:18:19] I bet you Jesus had confidence, man.
[00:18:22] I bet you Jesus had some confidence when he prayed this prayer, man. I bet you there was not even a little bit of like, I wonder if God hears me right now. Jesus was like, I got confidence in this. So he says, then I will ask the Father and he will give you another advocate.
[00:18:40] Just stop there for a minute. That word another means exactly like.
[00:18:46] So it doesn't mean like one similar to, or he's kind of like me, or he's got a little bit of my attributes that means exactly like. So Jesus is saying, I'm gonna send another one who is exactly like me in every way.
[00:19:01] Everything you've seen of me, heard of me, everything you've seen me do, everything you've seen me, heard me say.
[00:19:08] All of that is true of who I'm sending. Exactly the same. No difference. All right, you got that?
[00:19:15] So it says, I'm going to send you another advocate to help you, and he to help you and be with you forever.
[00:19:25] Verse 17 the spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows Him. But you know Him.
[00:19:34] For he lives with you, and check it out, will be in you.
[00:19:40] So that same promise of Ezekiel is now being brought to light through Jesus, because Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. We can't understand Old Testament prophecy or law or any other things in the Old Testament without looking at through Jesus and Jesus life and his finished works. Because Jesus is complete and perfect revelation.
[00:20:00] He is perfect revelation. That's why you can see people misinterpret the character of God from the Old Testament, because they don't know the character of Jesus in the New Testament. They don't know because Jesus said, if you've seen me, you've seen the Father, right? I came to reveal the Father. That's what Jesus said. That's what his ministry was all about, was to reveal the heart of God. So God prophesies in Ezekiel that there'll be this day where we'll remove this old heart, will be removed, and we'll be given a new spirit and a new heart. And we'll walk in his ways. He. He'll cause us to walk in his ways. So Jesus then, in the New Testament, brings this to life, and he says, I'm gonna send you another one exactly like me. And he's gonna be your advocate. And that word, advocate means helper. He's gonna be your helper.
[00:20:44] And he, it says, is the spirit of truth.
[00:20:48] And it says that you know him, he lives with you, and he'll be in you.
[00:20:54] Amen.
[00:20:55] Okay, we're good. You guys are with me, right? Is this good?
[00:20:59] Thank you, Lord.
[00:21:03] Jack, can we pull up that graphic, man?
[00:21:08] There it is, the Parakletos. So that word parakletos is the Greek word for advocate, or the helper, translated the helper. And it means helper, advocate, counselor, comforter.
[00:21:22] So all of these attributes. When Jesus says, I'm going to send you another parakletos, he's saying, I'm going to send you another one just like me. Who is going to help you? Who is going to stand in the gap for you? Who is going to minister to you and who is going to bring you comfort.
[00:21:39] He knows that being spirit led is at war with the flesh and who we are. He. He knows that we have a humanity that is always trying to pull us in the opposite direction to the things of God. He knows it. So he says, I'm gonna give you another one. Cause he says, it's better for me that I go so that I can send you another. Why would Jesus say that? Why would Jesus say it's better that I go?
[00:22:03] Cause he was just one man. And so what, are we all supposed to pack up today and go to Jerusalem and.
[00:22:09] No, we couldn't do that.
[00:22:12] So what did he do? He says, better that I go so I could send you another one exactly like me.
[00:22:19] The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit. You falling in love with the Holy Spirit.
[00:22:23] So he's our helper. He's our advocate. He's our counselor. He's our comforter. The Bible interprets this as one called alongside to help.
[00:22:32] One called alongside to help. So you know when you're.
[00:22:37] When you're wrestling with that sin or that thought that you can't get past, the Holy Spirit comes alongside you to help.
[00:22:44] Do you know when you just don't have the strength to go another step? The Holy Spirit comes alongside you to help. Do you know when you just can't work out that issue that you're having? You don't know how you're gonna get through this. Maybe it's a financial situation. Maybe it's something in your marriage. Maybe it's something with your kids. The Holy Spirit comes alongside to help.
[00:23:02] You are not alone in your walk with God. So many Christians feel that. They feel like they've got to tough this out. They've got to walk this alone. No, Jesus said that he was going to send you one to come alongside and help, that he was going to send another just like him. It's as if Jesus was walking with you right now. Except the difference is he lives in you. And he's changing the way you think not only about yourself, but the way you see life.
[00:23:25] The way you speak, the way you walk, the way you approach situations, your perspective. Everything about you has changed. Because the one who is holy and pure and perfect now dwells in you.
[00:23:38] Amen.
[00:23:39] He promised a helper.
[00:23:41] I don't know about you, but I need a helper.
[00:23:44] I need a helper. And here's the thing.
[00:23:48] So a lot of the times the Holy Spirit gets relegated to, like, what's a good way of explaining this Jesus?
[00:23:58] Like, he's the one that's always there when we do wrong, pointing out our flaws.
[00:24:07] Tony, what are you doing?
[00:24:10] That is so far from who the Holy Spirit is so far.
[00:24:16] There is a term in the Bible used for someone who's called the accuser of the brethren, and it is not attributed to the Holy Spirit.
[00:24:26] Quite the opposite, the Antichrist.
[00:24:32] So accusations or condemnation are not the Holy Spirit.
[00:24:38] But a lot of Christians live that way. A lot of Christians live in the state of.
[00:24:43] They mistake conviction for condemnation.
[00:24:47] And so what do I mean by that?
[00:24:50] The Holy Spirit's ministry is to actually point you to Jesus.
[00:24:59] That's his ministry.
[00:25:01] So when something doesn't align with who you are in Christ, like, you see that and you go, I'm really not that. And then accusations and condemnation comes. That's not the Holy Spirit.
[00:25:13] The Holy Spirit will point you to Jesus, and the Holy Spirit will say something like, let's go with something. All right, Lord, the Holy Spirit will say, your life is not your own.
[00:25:34] You were purchased with a price.
[00:25:40] So why would you live your life short of the price that was paid?
[00:25:51] You were redeemed not with silver or gold, but with the precious blood of the Lamb without spot or wrinkle.
[00:25:59] So instead of living like a poor person, why don't you start living in the inheritance that Christ has paid to give you?
[00:26:09] Why would you want to be a prodigal eating from the pig slop when you've got a seat in the palace?
[00:26:21] Do you see that? Do you see how the Holy Spirit doesn't condemn. He convicts you into identity.
[00:26:29] He doesn't keep you down. He pulls you into purpose.
[00:26:34] That's powerful, man.
[00:26:39] Man, I could not do life without the Holy Spirit.
[00:26:44] And that's probably my number one aim for this next few weeks, is to get you to fall in love with the Holy Spirit, to actually see him for who he is, that he's another, like Christ, sent to come alongside you to help you and to pull you into your identity, to show you who you were created to be, to remind you of the price that was paid for you.
[00:27:13] And then from that place where we're not trying to earn his favor or make him happy, because that's just so dumb.
[00:27:23] We can start to then live from him and the things around us, the people around us can start to get a glimpse of Him. Amen. And I believe there's some people in here that are like, your lights shine, man. Like, I'm blinded up here by the light of the Holy Spirit in you. This is like, this church is amazing. All I'm hoping to do is really just make that even more alive in you than what it already is. Yeah. Is that okay? You guys good to come with me on that journey?
[00:27:54] Yeah. Thank you, Lord.
[00:27:56] Thank you, Lord. So there's all these aspects of what we see in the Holy Spirit here. So it says that he's the Spirit of truth, right? So he teaches and Brings Jesus's words, the truth, the way, the truth, the life, back to our remembrance. You know? You know those times where you're just kind of like, that's that scripture, or that's that truth, or that's what I needed. That's the Holy Spirit bringing that back to your remembrance. It says that he guides us into truth and he glorifies Jesus. He reveals the one in whom our identity is already established. But this one, this one I really. I really want to focus on. Let's get that scripture back up, man. John, chapter 14. And let's go to verse.
[00:28:36] It's probably towards the end, I think, John, chapter 14.
[00:28:40] Oh, sorry.
[00:28:42] Yeah, but you know him. So at the end of the scripture, the spirit of truth, the world cannot accept him because it neither sees him or knows him, but you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. So the purpose of Jesus going was to send the Holy Spirit so that he could dwell in you. And it says that he will abide in you. Go to the next verse. I think we've got one more.
[00:29:03] No, it's a different translation. It says, he will abide with you for forever.
[00:29:09] Forever.
[00:29:10] Not temporarily, not occasionally. Not whether you do or do the right thing. Forever.
[00:29:18] So it went from the Holy Spirit among you and with you to now, the Holy Spirit being in you. And it's not God just merely visiting or occasionally stopping by. This is God Almighty, the creator of heaven and earth, taking up residence within you, his redeemed people.
[00:29:36] God did everything to fill you with himself.
[00:29:41] He is not looking for an excuse to leave.
[00:29:49] He paid everything to fill you with the fullness of himself. He's not waiting there, going, knew they wouldn't live up to it. I'm out of here.
[00:30:03] How many people live like that, though?
[00:30:07] I will abide with them forever.
[00:30:11] He says forever. He says he's not looking for a reason to vacate.
[00:30:16] He hasn't got his bad pack by the door.
[00:30:19] Just going. Yep, Paul's about to mess it up. I'm out.
[00:30:25] Nah, man, he's moved in, brother. He's on the couch. Feet up, bro.
[00:30:30] He's. I'm not going anywhere, man. I'm here to stay.
[00:30:33] I am here to stay.
[00:30:35] Hallelujah.
[00:30:38] We're having fun, man. Praise God. He has made his home in you. First Corinthians 6:19 says, you, body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, the dwelling. Yeah, so the dwelling place of God is no longer temples made with man's hands, man. It's the Heart of the new Christian as the heart of the. And just the same way the glory filled the temple. Oh, man. Hallelujah. His glory lives in you now, man.
[00:31:04] His glory resides in you now, man. And so when they would walk past in the Old Testament, they'll walk past the tabernacle in the wilderness. And they would know the presence of God was on it because there'd be this fire on top of it, man. Why there's a fire inside of you. Hallelujah. And his name is the Holy Spirit. And he just wants to get out, and he just wants to transform not just your life, but all the lives around you. There's a fire on you. Hallelujah.
[00:31:30] Just like the day of Pentecost in the Book of Acts.
[00:31:33] I see it. I see it all around this room. I see the fire of God on each and every single one of you, man. You guys are commissioned.
[00:31:41] Commissioned.
[00:31:43] You are destined to walk in the good works that God prepared beforehand for you.
[00:31:50] Amen. So quit doubting that you're not worthy to walk in those good works because God has so much faith in your ability to.
[00:31:57] That he placed the Holy Spirit on the inside of you. And he said, I believe it. I wouldn't have picked me, Jesus. I am not. I don't know why I'm his plan A and why you're his plan A, but he is God, so I'm not gonna question him. He's decided that we are it.
[00:32:13] We are the vessels to take this message of the gospel into the world, to preach the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ to a lost, dying, and broken world. But you cannot do that if you do not believe that the fire of God lives on the inside of you, that you are redee and purchased and paid for. And that when you move, God moves with you.
[00:32:36] Amen. Hallelujah.
[00:32:41] Thank you, Jesus.
[00:32:43] All right, I'll calm down.
[00:32:48] Thank you, Jesus.
[00:32:52] Yeah, he cleansed the vessel because he intended to fill it.
[00:32:56] So here's what I love about the gospel. God didn't move into a dirty vessel and then tell you to try harder to become clean.
[00:33:07] Paul's like, yeah, true, man.
[00:33:09] Jesus made us clean. So you aren't some dirty, unusable or broken vessel that God can't fill. You don't leak, guys. You're not a cracked vessel. You're not some dirty, unusable, broken vessel that God can't fill. You are his purchased, possession, redeemed by the blood of Christ.
[00:33:26] You had a past. You had an old nature, but now you're in Christ look at this in First Corinthians 6:11.
[00:33:33] I get it, man. I had a past. I had a future. But if I live there, I'll never fulfill the good works.
[00:33:39] I have to live in what he says.
[00:33:41] I have to live by what he says.
[00:33:45] So let's look at this in 1st Corinthians 6:11. And such were some of you. You had a past.
[00:33:50] You had an old man, it says, but you were washed. You were sanctified. You were justified.
[00:33:56] Look at the means by which God did this. In the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
[00:34:05] You were unclean.
[00:34:08] You were dead.
[00:34:11] You've been made alive.
[00:34:13] You were.
[00:34:17] You were a sinner. You were those things.
[00:34:20] But not now. The Bible says, you've been washed, you've been sanctified, you've been set apart. Hallelujah. You've been made holy. Hallelujah. You've been justified. Just as if I'd never sinned. Justified.
[00:34:35] Made right in God's sight.
[00:34:38] Filled with His Spirit.
[00:34:40] And look at this. Look how God accomplished it. In the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. Remember, he said, he'll take out that old heart and he'll put his spirit on the inside. He did that. Why? So that you could be sanctified. Which means set apart.
[00:34:56] Set apart. Set apart for his service. Set apart for good works that God prepared for you. Set apart so that you could let his glory, his light, shine among men so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father, which is in heaven preaching myself happy. Hallelujah.
[00:35:14] So the Holy Spirit now dwells in us. He washes us. He sanctifies us. He justifies us.
[00:35:22] He sets us apart. Look at this in first Peter 1, verse 2. And we're going to look at it in two different scriptures. And then, Shelley, you better start to think about coming up.
[00:35:31] So, first Peter 1:2. It says elect.
[00:35:35] That's you guys.
[00:35:36] That's you. That's the church of God the Elect, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father in sanctification of the Spirit. For what? Obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. Grace to you and peace be multiplied. And I love it in the niv. Ready?
[00:35:55] We got it in the niv. I hope so.
[00:35:58] Here we go.
[00:36:00] No, not quite. I'll read it to you. Ready?
[00:36:03] God the Father knew you and chose you long ago.
[00:36:12] In sanctification of the Spirit. So God the Father knew you and chose you long ago.
[00:36:19] And His Spirit has made you holy.
[00:36:26] As a result, you have obeyed Him.
[00:36:32] So the other scripture kind of made it sound like it was our obedience that had a part in the sanctification.
[00:36:38] But when you actually look at it, it was the Holy Spirit who sanctified you and made you holy. And then it says, as a result of that, you've obeyed Him.
[00:36:48] So the obedience does not translate to holiness. Holiness translates to obedience.
[00:36:56] Amen. That's good, man.
[00:36:59] And you have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ.
[00:37:03] This is my prayer for you guys. May God give you more and more grace and peace.
[00:37:07] That means that we are purified, cleansed and washed because of our faith in Jesus, not our past performance or our current condition. The Gospel tells us something so amazing, we can never scrub hard enough to make ourselves clean. So Jesus cleanses the inside for us and purifies us. And then His Holy Spirit is the method by which he does it.
[00:37:27] The Holy Spirit is the method by which he's done. Not your obedience, not your perfection, not your good works. The Holy Spirit.
[00:37:33] Amen.
[00:37:34] Sanctification of the Spirit. We live from a new nature that we've received in Christ, filled with the Spirit of God. As we walk with the Holy Spirit, his new life begins to be expressed through us, through our words, our responses, our desires. The things we used to want to do. We don't want to do those anymore.
[00:37:51] For some reason. You know, I just want to shower my wife with love all the time.
[00:38:08] I do when I walk in the Spirit.
[00:38:17] I love you, babe. God didn't want just clean cups, guys. He wanted filled ones. He cleansed the vessel because he intended to fill it.
[00:38:26] All right, declaration time. Somebody say this with me. He's my helper.
[00:38:31] He's my comforter.
[00:38:33] He's my guide.
[00:38:35] He's my teacher. He's my holiness.
[00:38:38] He's my justification.
[00:38:40] He's my sanctification.
[00:38:43] I've been cleansed. I've been washed. I've been purified. And I've been sealed by the Holy Spirit.
[00:38:52] And I know I don't have to get more of him, that I have his fullness.
[00:39:00] But, man, do I make myself available for it to walk in the newness of life. Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus.
[00:39:12] So the Holy Spirit now dwells within us. Does the Holy Spirit dwell within you, Church?
[00:39:17] Oh, hallelujah. He reveals Christ to us. He forms Christ in us, and he works through us to reveal Christ to the world.
[00:39:25] Yeah. Thanks. We don't perform the gifts, don't make us spiritual.
[00:39:30] We were made alive because of Jesus.
[00:39:33] We've been sanctified by his Holy Spirit.
[00:39:39] That's why Paul says.
[00:39:41] He says, pursue love and desire, spiritual gifts, and a lot of us even. Now, you just heard that. As in, I need to be more loving.
[00:39:52] No, some of you heard that I need to be more. That's not what I said, man.
[00:39:59] Pursue love. What does that mean, Father? I want to know the love that you have for me, God. Man, I'm just going to pursue you, God, because you are love. And I'm just going to go after you with everything I have. And as I go after you, Lord God, you're going to shape me, you're going to transform me, and then the gifts will start to flow through me, God, because I pursued you first, Jesus.
[00:40:19] That's what pursuing love looks like.
[00:40:22] It doesn't mean I've got to become more lovable. It means I've got to pursue the one who is love. Yeah.
[00:40:34] Thank you, Jesus. Somebody. That was. Yeah, that was awesome. Thank you, God.
[00:40:39] All right, church, who's ready?
[00:40:45] If you need to come up here this morning and you just need.
[00:40:49] Maybe you've never been. Never been touched by the Holy Spirit. Maybe this is the first time you've ever really heard about the Holy Spirit and his sanctifying work in the life of a believer. If that's you, I need you to come up here and we're gonna pray. Or maybe, maybe this morning, the Holy Spirit's just saying, I want. I want more of you. You've got the fullness of me, but I want more of you. And if that's you this morning, I want you to come up here. You're just saying, okay, Holy Spirit, I surrender to you. I surrender to you this morning. Holy Spirit, I know I have the fullness of you, but I'm giving you more of me this morning. Maybe that's the Holy Spirit speaking to you this morning. He's saying, you have all of me, but I want more of you. If that's you, I invite you to come up. I'm not going to tarry for long. I'm going to pray. So 3, 2, 1. If you're coming up, thank you, Jesus. Amen. Thank you for the people. Thank you, God.
[00:41:34] Yeah, thank you, Lord. Here's the amazing truth about the Scriptures. In the Gospel, it says that. In Galatians, it says that. How did you receive the gift of the Spirit? Was it by works or by faith?
[00:41:48] By believing. And that's what we're praying this morning. We're not praying for you to do something magical. You're simply receiving it by faith.
[00:41:56] Amen. Church. Would you put your hands out towards these beautiful people, God?
[00:42:01] Thank you, Father. Father, you see these hearts, Lord?
[00:42:05] Father, you see these precious sheep, Your chosen ones, your beloved children, Lord God.
[00:42:11] You see their desire, Lord, to walk in more of you.
[00:42:15] So, Father God, I just pray this morning, Lord God, that a fresh fire would fall on them, Lord God, that they would know, Lord, without a doubt, that they are sanctified, purified and made holy by your spirit, Lord God.
[00:42:29] That they would get a revelation this morning, Lord God, that you sent another one exactly like you to come alongside them, to be with them and abide with them forever.
[00:42:38] Jesus, that you're not looking to leave, you're looking to show them who you created them to be, Lord God.
[00:42:45] And Father, I pray, Lord God, that their eyes from this day forward, be open to your spirit. Be open to the identity they have in you. Be open to the understanding, Lord God, that you are with them. That you're their helper, their counselor, their advocate, their comforter, their friend, their guide, their teacher, Lord.
[00:43:02] Holy Spirit, come, Holy Spirit, fall, Holy Spirit, ignite the fire within them, Lord God.
[00:43:12] Set them apart, Lord.
[00:43:14] Sanctify them by your word. Sanctify them by your spirit, Lord God. May they walk in the fullness of who you created them to be. And may they fulfill the good works, Lord, that you have prepared beforehand for them, Lord God. But most of all, first and foremost, would they pursue love.
[00:43:32] Pursue you, Lord God. Pursue your heart. And from that place overflow.
[00:43:38] Thank you, Jesus, for these precious people, these beautiful people, your chosen ones, Lord God, Lord God, seal them, sanctify them, set them apart, Lord God. Set them on fire in Jesus name. And the church said amen.
[00:43:53] Amen. Hallelujah. Amen.
[00:43:57] Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. You don't have to go. You can stay for as long as you want. The altar is open. Church.
[00:44:03] Well, today's a special day, man. What a great service.
[00:44:07] Hallelujah. Thank you, God. Can we just give God praise.
[00:44:17] Or blessing or honor or majesty or dominion or might? Belongs to the lamb who sits on the throne. Yeah.
[00:44:25] Thank you, Jesus.
[00:44:27] All honor belongs to you, Jesus.
[00:44:29] You want me to close out the service?
[00:44:33] Hallelujah. Well, come back next week. Come back next week.
[00:44:37] We're about to.
[00:44:38] Our hospitality team has. Pardon me. Come back tonight. Yes. Thank you, Pastor. Tina. Come back tonight. Can we throw that graphic up for our faith strong night of worship praise tonight. We got that graphic should be in the announcements, man.
[00:44:53] So tonight, six o' clock here at the church, we're going to gather together for a night of celebration. We're going to be celebrating the faithfulness of our God.
[00:45:02] 10 years he has faithfully walked with our senior pastors and brought us to this point right now.
[00:45:10] And we want to celebrate that. We want to mark that. This is like an altar that we're building to God and we're going to just lift up praise to him tonight. We're just going to. We're just going to worship Him. I don't want you to come for any other reason than you just want to exalt Jesus. That's why you're coming tonight. That's the whole reason why you're coming. You just want to lift up the name of Jesus. So come like David, be ready to dance.
[00:45:33] Yeah, get your ephod out. Let's get ready to go.
[00:45:38] Oh, I guess. Yeah.
[00:45:39] Actually, I probably don't even really know what I'm saying there. The Jewish guy's like, do not do that.
[00:45:46] Amen. It's gonna be fun, though. It's gonna be a lot of fun. So come back here tonight. Six o' clock tonight.
[00:45:52] Yeah. Just come and worship with us, man. It's gonna be amazing.
[00:45:56] Straight after church, our hospitality team has a cake. I believe we have a cake and a fresh fruit platter. I'm getting a thumbs up on the cake, so I know they've been working hard on that. So just stick around for a bit. Hey, get to know somebody that you don't know. Fellowship. Love on somebody.
[00:46:11] Talk about the message today. If you've got any questions or if you want to come and see me, you need some prayer? I'll hang up here for a little bit. Yeah, but I love you guys, man. God bless you. Anything else? That's us. We're good. Night of worship?
[00:46:25] Yeah. Actually, if you're new, if you've got new faces and you haven't signed up to church suite, come and see one of us. We can help you do that as well. So we can get you in the database so you can find out more about what's going on at world changes and how we're impacting the city. I love you guys.
[00:46:38] I love you guys, man. You guys are Holy Spirit filled, anointed, appointed and commissioned people, man. There is good works that God has prepared for you, man. Just start walking in them. But first of all, know that you're loved by the Father, that you're filled with his spirit and you're set apart, man, for Him. Amen.
[00:46:57] Thank youk, Jesus. All right. Father God, we just thank youk for the service this morning. Lord God, we give all the praise and glory to youo. God, you are so amazing.
[00:47:05] Oh, you are so amazing. God, we love youe so much.
[00:47:09] Yeah. Thank you, God.
[00:47:11] Thank you, God for these precious people, Lord.
[00:47:15] Thank you, Lord God, for laying your life down so that we become a family in Christ, that we can be adopted as sons and daughters and that we don't have to prove anything to you. Lord God, you actually proved everything to us and we believe it and we receive it in the precious name of Jesus Christ.
